Begin your day exploring the scenic back roads from Darwin to the Finniss River, where you’ll visit the ancestral land of your Aboriginal guide’s family. Learn how local people have lived in harmony with the land for thousands of years, included harvesting seasonal bush foods, observing native wildlife, and using termites in clever and sustainable ways.

Backroad Journey to Finniss River (Approx. 45 mins)
Activity: Scenic drive through the lesser-known back roads of Darwin into traditional Aboriginal country.
Highlight: Stop at the shady banks of the Finniss River. Stretch your legs and learn about the diverse resources the river provides—bush foods, medicinal plants, and fishing methods used by local Indigenous people.
Duration at stop: ~30 mins
Note: During the wet season, the backroads may be inaccessible. The journey will instead follow the main highway through the town of Batchelor.
Termite Mounds & Bush Knowledge Walk
Activity: Short interpretive walk with your guide to observe the fascinating termite mounds, some towering up to 5 meters! Learn how termites are vital to the Northern Territory ecosystem and how Indigenous people use termite nests for traditional practices.

Woolaning Spring (Dry Season Only)
Activity: Exclusive access to private Aboriginal-owned land. Enjoy morning tea beside a rainforest stream, swim in warm spring waters, or explore the remnants of an old family-run sawmill camp.

Note: During the wet season, this area may be too boggy to access. Morning tea will be held at an alternative accessible site in the park.
Bush-Tucker Style Lunch
Location: Scenic outdoor setting in or near Litchfield National Park
Menu: Freshly prepared wild-caught barramundi, crocodile, and kangaroo, served with local sides.
Dietary needs: Vegetarian and allergy-conscious options available upon request.
Duration: ~45–60 mins
Wangi Falls
Activity: Visit one of Litchfield’s most iconic attractions. Enjoy a swim* in the plunge pool, walk through the surrounding rainforest, or take a more adventurous trail around and over the falls (optional).
Duration at stop: ~1 hour
Note: Swimming may be restricted during the wet season due to strong currents and potential crocodile presence. Viewing and walking trails remain open and safe.
Florence Falls Lookout & Swimming
Activity: Enjoy panoramic views from the lookout, then take the 135-step staircase down to the base for a refreshing swim in the plunge pool. Alternatively, opt for easier access upstream for a gentle soak.

Return to Darwin Port
Relax during your comfortable return journey with plenty of time to reboard your cruise ship before departure.
