Bay of Islands Scenic and Cultural Journey

Your guide will greet you at the cruise jetty upon your arrival in the Bay of Islands. After a warm welcome and short introduction, you’ll board your comfortable transportation and begin the journey to your first destination on the northern shore.

Rainbow Falls Scenic Walk and Viewing

Your first stop is the magnificent Rainbow Falls, known in Māori as Waianiwaniwa. Here, you’ll have the chance to walk through native bush to three separate viewing platforms, each offering a unique and stunning perspective of the 27-meter-high waterfall. Makana Chocolate Factory and Kauri Workshop

Next, you’ll visit the Makana Chocolate Factory, a boutique chocolate shop known for its handmade gourmet chocolates crafted using premium ingredients. You’ll enjoy complimentary tastings and see how the chocolates are made through the glass-viewing area. Right next door, you’ll explore the Kauri Workshop, where local artisans create crafts and collectibles from native kauri wood. Feel free to browse or pick up a unique souvenir.

Kerikeri Mission Station Tour

You’ll continue your journey to the Kerikeri Mission Station, one of New Zealand’s most significant historic sites. A professional guide will lead you through The Stone Store (built in 1832), originally a warehouse for the Church Missionary Society, and Kemp House, the oldest surviving European building in New Zealand (completed in 1821–22). You’ll learn about the relationships between missionaries and Māori, the challenges of early colonial life, and the cultural legacy preserved in these beautifully maintained buildings.

Lunch at the Plough and Feather Pub

After exploring the mission site, you’ll enjoy a relaxed lunch at the historic Plough and Feather, a pub and restaurant located on the mission grounds. Your guide will be available to offer menu suggestions or answer questions about local cuisine and culture.

Before returning to the wharf, your final stop is the Waitangi Lookout Loop. This scenic viewpoint offers a panoramic perspective over Waitangi, Russell, and the sparkling Bay of Islands. Take time to soak in the views and snap some final photos of the breathtaking Northland landscape.

After a full day of exploration, your guide will escort you back to the cruise terminal. You’ll return with a deeper appreciation of the region’s natural beauty, rich history, and local flavors.
