Our journey begins with a comfortable ride to Kamakura, where we first visit Kotokuin Temple, home to the iconic Great Buddha (Daibutsu). Standing over 11 meters tall and cast in bronze, this 13th-century statue has withstood centuries of storms, tsunamis, and time. As you gaze upon the Buddha’s tranquil face surrounded by cherry blossoms (seasonal), you’ll feel a moment of quiet introspection and timeless beauty.
A short drive brings us to Hasedera Temple, famed for its statue of Kannon, the goddess of mercy. At 9.18 meters tall, this gilded wooden statue is one of Japan’s largest. Wander through the tranquil temple grounds, admire stone lanterns, koi ponds, and lush gardens. Don’t miss the hilltop view over Kamakura Bay—particularly mesmerizing in spring and autumn.
Next, we visit Tsurugaoka Hachiman-gu Shrine, the spiritual heart of Kamakura and once the guardian shrine of the Minamoto samurai clan. The peaceful shrine grounds feature twin lotus ponds and tree-lined paths that burst into color in spring and fall. Feel the legacy of Japan’s warrior spirit while strolling through the sacred site.
End the day at Komachi-dori, a bustling shopping street near the shrine. This charming avenue mixes old-world crafts with modern flair. Cruisers can find handmade goods, browse silk and washi paper shops, or simply enjoy a cup of matcha and a sweet sakura mochi. This is the perfect spot to relax, shop, and snack before returning to port.
The tour is specially designed for leisurely enjoyment, with minimal stairs and long walks. All destinations are accessible by vehicle with short walking paths, making it suitable for seniors and guests who prefer a calm travel pace.
We recommend comfortable walking shoes, especially if you wish to explore temple gardens and shrine paths. Dress modestly (shoulders covered) for temple visits. Depending on the season, bring a hat and sunscreen (spring/summer), or a light jacket (autumn/winter). Don’t forget your camera, cherry blossoms and temple architecture offer amazing photo ops.
Meals are not included, but during the Komachi-dori visit, guests have free time to enjoy local foods like udon noodles, matcha sweets, and seasonal snacks. Your guide will be happy to recommend popular and authentic eateries nearby.
Absolutely! If you are traveling with a private group or have specific interests (more time at temples, vegetarian-friendly eateries, etc.), we can customize the route. Let us know your preferences when booking and we’ll adjust accordingly.
Yes! The tour route includes some of the best seasonal cherry blossom spots in Kamakura, especially around Kotokuin Temple and Tsurugaoka Hachiman-gu Shrine. The best time for blossoms is typically late March to early April, though the gardens are beautiful in all seasons.
